In this role, you will meet with customers, document customer requirements, provide quotes, and lead large projects from start to finish. You continue the customer relationship through the project, and beyond.
Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00 am- 3:30 pm
The candidate should have 10 years of fabrication experience and must be able to work independently or lead a small team. The fabricator II must be self-motivated, able to work unsupervised for long periods of time, and manage changing workloads, priorities, and direction. The fabricator II needs to fill a project management role and develop good relationships with customers. Must be able to manage large projects from start to finish, and be able to mentor a Fabricator I. Must have fork truck driving experience. Must provide own set of tools. Occasional travel is required among other Wisconsin locations.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate can weld mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using MIG and TIG welding processes and will require structural welding certification. Have the ability to operate a CNC press brake, a manual press brake, and other hand tools. Must be able to read blueprints with weld symbols and use simple inspection tools, i.e., ruler, micrometer, caliper, protractor, and wire gauges. Must be able to identify and verify various steel types, shapes, and gauges. Must be able to do complex layout and fit-up of parts and assemblies from prints or sketches.
Fabricator II will comply with Quad’s safety rules, policies, and procedures. The candidate will successfully complete all required safety and environmental training to perform the job safely.
The ability to perform in a project management leadership role and lead a crew is necessary. Tasks include:
- Meet with customers and/or engineers to ensure 100% customer satisfaction is achieved. Continue the customer relationship throughout the project and beyond.
- Measure, design, sketch, and quote parts that conform to corporate and safety standards for fabrication.
- Part and assembly design analysis as it pertains to form, fit, function, safety, reliability, and cost.
- Review blueprints and provide feedback in areas of form, fit, functionality, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
- Perform team leadership role with area employees and job assignments.
- Measure and inspect fabricated product to ensure conformity to prints or sketches.
- Ensure projects are done quickly and efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Provide accurate time and material billing on large or small projects.
